What Is Multi-Level Marketing? (MLM)

Multi-level marketing (MLM), also called network marketing[1] or pyramid selling,][3][4[2] is a controversial[5] marketing strategy for the sale of products or services where the revenue of the MLM company is derived from a non-salaried workforce selling the company’s products or services. In contrast, the earnings of the participants are derived from a pyramid-shaped or binary compensation commission system. An MLM strategy may be an illegal pyramid scheme.[6]

Multi-level Marketing (MLM) Companies

Multi-level marketing (MLM) companies use a network of independent distributors to sell products directly to people in the community.

Examples that most people think of when they hear about MLM companies include Avon and Mary K Cosmetics.

If you become a distributor for one of these companies, you will profit from selling the product.

But the natural way to make money is by recruiting a network of distributors who also sell the product, called your downline.

You earn commissions on sales made by distributors in your downline. To make money in MLM, you must know how to sell your product and build your downline.

About one in thirteen adults (18+) have participated in at least one multi-level marketing (MLM), sometimes referred to as direct sales or network marketing, during their lifetime, according to the AARP Foundation.

But do these people make money doing multi-level marketing? What’s the actual likelihood of MLM success?

It is possible to make money with MLM; however, we believe it is highly improbable. It is stated in a free e-book, ‘Multi-Level Marketing Unmasked, by Jon Taylor found, that 99.7% of people will lose money in network marketing.

Multi-level marketing (MLM) is mostly about recruiting

Multi-level marketing (MLM) is mostly about recruiting; that’s how most companies teach you to build your business by recruiting everyone you know.

And this is one of the reasons so many aspiring network marketers fail.

So for every 1,000 people who join a network marketing team, three will earn more than they spend.

So if I want to have five successful people in my first down the line, I have to recruit 1,665 new members so that 5 of them will be successful.

MLM may be a system that anyone can do, but it’s also a system where only 1 in 333 people are successful.

Each MLM has its version of paying commission and shares similar characteristics.

To stay active, you have to sell a certain amount per month. This creates a synthetic demand for the products.

Network marketing members are ordering products to remain active.

Members order more than they use or can sell at a retail margin, which causes them to stockpile the products.

The balanced small business,

MLM Success and Dropout Rates

The AARP Foundation’s study found that 44% of participants dropped out after less than one year of working with an MLM Taylor’s research shows similar numbers and goes into a little more depth on dropout rates:

  • At least 50% of MLM representatives drop out in the first year.
  • A minimum of 90% of representatives leave within five years.
  • By year 10, only those at or near the top have not dropped out—at least 95% of representatives have dropped out.

These numbers don’t go well when comparing them to the average failure rates of small businesses.

 MLM participants earned less than $100 per year before expenses.

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, about 20% of small businesses don’t make it past a year, about 50% of the last five years or longer, and about a third make it past ten years.

According to the Washington Post survey, 60% of MLM participants earned less than $100 per year before expenses.

The Post, in their conclusion, found that most participants could earn significantly more money in exchange for a lot less time and money invested if employed in a minimum wage job.

The same study from the Washington Post found that 1/3 of MLM members admitted to borrowing money to fund their MLM side hustle.

Go2Crowd Survey is not a scam, and it is free to join. Surveys are usually not big money earners, and with the Go2Crowd  survey, this is stated on their rewards information.

If you have some time to spare and do not mind the small amount you can earn, you can join this site.

But if you think it is a waste of your time and would you like to earn more, This is possible.

There are many other ways to make money online.

However, success will not happen overnight; whatever area of making money online will take some time.

Good luck getting help

I have contacted them the best I can when there is an issue, which is a lot, but no help at all.

First, the site they give you, https://cint.zendesk.com/home, is not found on their site in the FAQs as they say.

The email addresses they give you for help will just tell you to submit a not on their site ticket.

If there is an issue included in their survey, the email they give you, admin@cintindex.com refuses to take requests and is undeliverable.

The “Contact” button at the bottom of their emails to me is “Crazy Domains.com.au” and worthless. I just took a survey that is not in the pending surveys.

I know it can take time, but it should at least be there. This happens a lot, and I don’t get all the points I earn because of their lack of assistance.

They also do not have a survey history of letting me see which ones I got points for or not. I asked about that two times in the last year, and two different answers, neither helpful nor the truth.

I’ve been using this site on and off since last year, I don’t do most surveys, but sometimes I will get on a streak of doing them. I’ve, so far, cashed out twice.

Both rewards were $10 visa gift cards. You do sometimes have to be patient and wait for them to have the gift card you want, last cash out,

I believe it took a week or so for the site to have the visa cards. It takes maybe 14 business days to get the reward emailed to you, but they always work, and I always do get them.

I’m just about at the stage where I can cash out again; hopefully, everything continues to go

WARNING BEWARE: Can’t redeem rewards

I’ve been a member a long time, no issues. Recently, six months or so, they send surveys approximately two times/month, averaging 100 or more points.

Panelists can’t access the website to redeem points for more than four months now. I’m receiving emails that “due to technical errors, account access is unavailable.” ODD, because it’s certainly accessible to send surveys, receive panelists’ answers.

This is a Toluna site, I believe, had issues with Toluna previously.

Very slow or nonexistent credit for surveys

This company sends out surveys only once or twice a month, and they’re generally worth 100 points. The huge problem for me is that they say they’ll credit you “once the survey closes,” which is typically at least a month or two, then they may or may not give you credit.

I am thinking about deleting my account with them because I have not gotten credit for the last two surveys I have taken.

I don’t think survey takers should have to wait months to see whether or not they’ll actually be credited for fully completing a survey. This company needs to do better.

A Slow Process.

They send surveys out about 1-2 times per month, and they’re usually pretty short and easy to answer. The surveys that I’ve done for them so far have been about 100 pts ea.

They only have Tango Cards for prizes so far — 500 pts = $5 Tango card, 1000 pts = $10 Tango card — that’s it. It has taken me about 4 months to save up for a $5 Tango card, because I’ve only had 5 surveys in that time. I wish the surveys came more often, then I’d probably give them more stars on this review… Run by Toluna.

After registering, you will be allowed to participate in surveys, discussion forums, and opinion polls.

You will have the opportunity to share your personal experiences and attitudes.

Get your voice heard! Each time you complete an activity, you will get a chance to win one of four monthly prizes.

Is Finger On The Pulse Legit

Yes, this company is legit; it is owned and operated by a company called Horizon Media.

It is “the largest independently owned media services agency in the USA.” They created ads for GEICO Gecko, Capital One, and more.

My Thoughts

The company behind Finger On The Pulse has a reputable reputation,

.The rewards appear to be excellent. Amazon, iTunes, and Starbucks gift cards are definitely among the most desirable prizes on survey panels,

You will be able to do different kinds of activities. Taking surveys can get boring, which is why it’s nice to also earn by participating in live discussions and doing short polls.

But some of the comments by members states it is not easy to qualify for a survey.

The prospect of earning a lot of money is not good.

If making some decent money is not your goal, then you can try this site.

In most cases, survey sites tend to waste it seems that you end up spending valuable time doing surveys with very little to show for it.

There are better ways to make money online, but my favorite way is affiliate marketing,

While affiliate marketing is not as easy as doing surveys, it is by no means a get the rich quick opportunity, it can be gratifying, and you can try it for FREE.

For free, you will be given ten lessons which at the end, you will have a good idea of just what affiliate marketing is,

The surveys are okay, a little long for the number of points you get. I probably get 1-2 a week. However, their gift cards are frequently out of stock. So, even if you have enough to cash out, you get nothing. I tried to unsubscribe or contact them from the bottom of a survey email I received only to find they’re not even links, just words on the screen. Do not recommend.

So I’d say they are pretty legit, you aren’t guaranteed to win every time, but you do get a good number of surveys and pleasant opportunities! When chosen, definitely finish every study as you would always do and see what happens; you are happening a young group of researchers helping other companies, even influencing movies
