The hardest thing about retirement is to have a life with no structure suddenly, after living most of our life with some system,

As hard workers, some of us working for more than 30 years as we grow older, we tend to look forward to our retirement,

And finally, the day comes, and we are officially a retiree, and we are happy; no more 9-5 rush to go to work and to get home,

We can do as we please, sleep late, do some gardening, go to the mall, and have all the time for ourselves.

For me, and I think a lot of us, this joy of newfound freedom lasted only for a short while, then we began to miss the structure of the working world.

We have more time ON OUR HANDS and are at a loss as to how to fill our days; some become lethargic and depressed.

We tend to put things off rot tomorrow, so we usually have full tomorrow, but today’s are empty.

Some of us had planned to travel to different countries or cities, and after retirement, we realized just how expensive that could be.

 

Not enough savings

We realize our plans will cost more than our savings allow, but we can overcome this by adding structure to our lives.

We can set a time to get out of bed in the mornings, exercise, and do our chores, whatever that may be.

We can give ourselves a change of scenery, and it doesn’t have to cost much; we can go to nearby counties or visit some museums or someplace of interest, and it doesn’t have to be every week. It can be once a month.

We can offer your service as a volunteer, and the hospitals sometimes need people to sit with patients or read to them; find something that will help you feel needed.

A job makes you feel worthwhile.

Having a job gave you an identity; you knew what your job was and how to do it and felt fulfilled; you may have grown tired of it, but now you miss that job.

Well, you could start a new career. I met a gentleman who was in his 80s, and he worked at our supermarket once per week; there wasn’t any need for him to work as he had retired from 2 companies and was getting a pension from both places but coming to work every Tuesday was what kept him alive.

I know I started feeling that my life had no meaning; sometimes in the morning, when I awake, I forget what day it was; I felt useless; everybody was gone to work except me.

I found a new career, affiliate marketing; my day is more structured, my mind is engaged, and I am learning new things in my old age.

Anybody can find a job online to keep you occupied. If you google make money online or jobs online, you would be surprised to see the vast number of opportunities.

Of course, as usual, there are also scams, so you need to be careful; I was scammed a couple of times, then I found Wealthy Affiliate.

The Wealthy Affiliate website was built for all affiliate marketers,s whether you are new to affiliate marketing, have done some affiliate marketing, or are a very experienced affiliate marketer.

On the Wealthy Affiliate platform, you are shown how to build your web website, which takes only 30 seconds, how to advertise your website,e how to monetize your website how to draw an audience to your website.

Affiliate marketing is not a get-rich overnight type of business; you can forget it; it is like any business; you have to work and study. Persevere, and have patience.

I think having patience is the hardest part, but it takes patience to attract an audience and patience for you to gain their trust.

Conclusion

Now a website is not only good for affiliate marketing; there are other things you can do online, but you can also sell things yourself. Maybe you have a hobby and are a  creative person; you can make things; it would be good to have your website; you could author an ebook or offer your service to tutor or work for companies online.

Maybe starting a new career does not appeal to you, but you can try it will cost you nothing; it did not appeal to me either. I thought I was too old to learn something new, and II was not computer literate; apart from entering data, I had no technical skills.

Today I am an affiliate marketer. I am learning about affiliate marketing and gaining knowledge in the niche I am writing about, health and wellness for boomers, especially retirees like myself.

Remember, you can become a starter member for free to look around; it will cost you nothing; you have nothing to lose to look around; you can stay a while and build your website.
